O Come Emmanuel - new recording
This November, Regent Records released a recording of Alan Bullard's Advent cantata - O Come Emmanuel, together with ten of Alan's carols, all performed by the chapel Choir of Selwyn College Cambridge, directed by Sarah Macdonald, in the spacious acoustic of Ely Cathedral.  Details: http://www.regent-records.co.uk/product_details_313.htm
O Come Emmanuel is receiving performances this December in Kenya, the Netherlands, the USA, as well as in the UK!

These five volumes, give singing the Joining the Dots treatment, are now published by ABRSM

New OUP recordings
Four of my recently published pieces have been recorded on the 2015 Oxford University Press free sampler CDs: two carols (A little child there is yborn, and This is the truth sent from above, and two Shakesepeare settings (When that I was an a little tiny boy, for SATB and piano, and Hark, Hark, the Lark, for SA and piano.

Health and Safety
This 'mini-cantata' in three short movements (Caution, Safety Notices, and Shocks), commissioned by the Cornwall International Male Voice Choir Festival, received its first performance, given by the Warwickshire County Male Voices, director Garry Jones, in the Hall for Cornwall on May 3rd 2015 - the finale to an excellent concert all round!

London Landscapes
Commissioned by the London Youth Wind Band (conductor Geoffrey Harniess), this three movement suite focuses on three aspects of contemporary London (Millennium Bridge, The Shard, and Canary Wharf) and recieved its first performance at St Alphege church, Greenwich, on 27 February 2015

Joining the Dots - Piano Grades 6-8
These three volumes, completing the piano provision of the Joining the Dots series are now published by ABRSM

Mastering the Piano - Lang Lang
Alan has contributed several pieces to the five volumes of this new educational series from the renowned pianist Lang Lang. Details here.

Alan's new Christmas Cantata is now published: details here.  Written for and first performed by by  VocalEssence (director Philip Brunelle) in Minneapolis, there were several more performances in quick succesion in the US and UK.

Pianoworks Popular Styles
The latest book in the Pianoworks series, by Janet and Alan Bullard, features a wide-ranging collection of original piano pieces at about Grade 2-4 level. Details here

Joining the Dots - Violin
The five volumes of this new member of the Joining the Dots series  are now published by ABRSM, and they were shortlisted for 'Best Print Resource' in the 2014 Music Teacher Awards

Merrily did the Shepherds blow
This new carol commissioned by Michael Simmonds for the choir of Rochester Cathedral (director Scott Farrell),  received a sparkling first performance last Christmas, on 20th and 21st December 2013. Listen to it here  It is scheduled for publication by Enconre Publications in Autumn 2015

Sweet Music
This setting of Tennyson's poem was commissioned for Farnham Youth Choir (director David Victor-Smith) by Alan Beattie has a present to his wife Alice - it received a great first performance at the Farnham Festival, on 28 March 2014 in Farnham Maltings, by the Farnham Youth Choir conducted by David Victor-Smith. Creator of the Stars of Night
This new setting of the timeless Advent hymn, commissioned  to celebrate Maria Jette's 25 years with Plymouth Congregational Church, received its first performance on December 15, 2013, by Maria Jette (soprano) with the choir of Plymouth Congregational Church, Minneapolis, USA, directed by Philip Brunelle. It is now published by OUP (click here) and recorded on their 2013 Christmas sampler CD  Listen to it here

New Advent cantata - O Come, Emmanuel
Alan has finished a cantata to celebrate Advent, called O Come, Emmanuel, dedicated to the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College Cambridge (director Sarah Macdonald) who gave its first performance on December 1 2013 (having performed part of it in 2012). It is now published by Oxford University Press and a recording will be issued in Autumn 2015.

Wondrous Cross
Wondrous Cross recieved a number of performances this Passiontide, in UK towns including Taunton, Harrogate, Great Missenden, Chelmsford, Hitchin, and in Holland and the US.  The Wondrous Cross CD is now available from Regent Records , your local CD shop, Amazon, or directly from me (email for details).

Scots Nativity
Alan's popular carol continues to receive many performances and its most recent recording is that on the new CD Bright Star, performed by Cadenza, director Jenny Summerling. Details here.

Colchester: Music of Place
Alan's new piece for horn and trumpet, commissioned by the Britten Sinfonia, was performed in Colchester on 8 and 9th September: called 'Archbishop Harsnett meets Doctor Gilberd' it represents an imaginary conversation between these two seventeenth-century gentlemen, whose statues occupy adjacent niches in the Town Hall facade. During the weekend it was performed 6 times on the town hall balcony, bravely challenging the roar of the traffic beneath, and also in the Britten Sinfona concert in Colchester Arts Centre on 8th September, accompanied only by the slight roar of the air-conditioning. The performers were Paul Archibald (trumpet) and Pip Eastop (horn).

Olympic Stars
This piece for massed wind and strings, commissioned by Enfield Youth Arts Partnership, recieved an exciting first performance, with three conductors operating in tandem, to a packed hall in Enfield on Wednesday 4th July

Selwyn Service (Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis)
This new work received an excellent first performance in Evensong by the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College Cambridge, director Sarah MacDonald, on 17 June, with a repeat at Evensong at Westminster Abbey on 25th June. They also sung it twice on their US tour in July, along with Ave Verum Corpus from Wondrous Cross (see Performances). The Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis is now published by OUP..

Fanfare on York
Commissioned by the Leeds Organists Association, this lively organ postlude received its first performance by Graham Barber at Armley Parish Church on Easter Monday, 9 April. The score will be available from Spartan Press from March 2013.

Love on my heart from heaven fell 
This new setting (for SSAA and piano) of Robert Bridges' lovely text, recieved its first performance from the commissioners, The Newstead Singers (conductor Lesley Cooper) at Christ Church, Petts Wood, Kent, on 18 April.  It was commissioned to celebebrate the choir's 40th anniversary - and, looking back in time, Alan also wrote a couple of pieces for them just after the choir was formed!  The score of this will be available from Spartan Press in March 2013, as will an arrangement for SATB and piano.

Alan's new cantata  Wondrous Cross , written for Lion Walk United Reformed Church in Colchester, received at least six performances this Passiontide - follow this link for details. It is recently published by OUP and is suitable for Passiontide: based on the Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ -  for church or concert choirs of all sizes, accompanied by organ or piano, with optional strings (quartet or quintet).  Please follow this link to see and hear some excerpts, sung by the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College Cambridge, and hear me talking about it!
Along with the new 'Selwyn Service' (Mag and Nunc) and other Bullard sacred works it has been recorded by the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge, for release by Regent CDs in 2013.
