The work, which consists of five movements touching on the different aspects of summer, for SATB unaccompanied, was enjoyed by the choir so much that they sung it twice, and then twice more in a repeat concert in Dedham the next day. Andrew Fardell subsequently conducted a performance of it at Piggott's Summer Music Camp, as a result of which a number of other choirs have earmarked it for their future repertoire. The five movements, which may be performed separately, are `May, Queen of Blossoms', `The Rose in June', `Busy Fly', `July Evening', and `Summer Queen'.
